KH Past Pupil Wins UCD Ad Astra Scholarship

KH Past Pupil Roger Berkeley has been awarded a prestigious UCD Ad Astra Scholarship. The Ad Astra Scholarship rewards students with exceptional talents to develop their skills to their full potential. Through membership of the Academy, students displaying elite potential to international standards in academic pursuits, sports or performing arts are encouraged and supported to develop their talent further. The UCD Ad Astra Academy provides these students with a range of benefits, mentoring and innovative supports to allow them to achieve at the highest levels.  The students in turn are expected to make a significant contribution to the Academy, the University and when they graduate, to society at large.


Roger is joined by only 9 other musicians and 7 actors in the Performing Arts programme of the Academy. The scholarship not only supports Roger financially but gives him access to full range of support services within the academy.

The academy have presented the school with a photo of Roger receiving his scholarship which will be displayed in the corridor outside the Mahony Room.

Here is the piece that Roger played at his audition. It is called Explorations II by Jim Wilson and it won the DIT Senior Irish Contemporary Music Award last year.
