KH Road To Rio - Judy Reynolds in profile

1999 past pupil Judy Reynolds was the first KH past pupil to secure her place for Rio. Judy secured one of eight individual places for the Rio Olympic Games in Rio 2016.

Competing in dressage, Judy secured her place with an Irish record score in Doha, Qatar back in March. Now 34, Judy has leaped up the world rankings over the last year and is now ranked 28th. Recently Judy finished 8th at the Gothenburg Dressage World Championships.

Judy began her riding career at the age of 4 at Callaighstown Riding School, riding Irish pony society hunter working ponies. She became interested in dressage at the age of 16. Judy has been representing Ireland since 2003, competing in three World Equestrian Games and three European Dressage Championships. She was named Irish Dressage Rider of the Year in 2008 and 2014.

After attending KH Judy went on to study music at NUIM, Maynooth and then travelled to Germany to as an international dressage rider. Judy now spends most of her year training in Germany and only about 3 months a year back in Ireland. Between competitions Judy drives oil tankers for her father's petroleum transport business. One of Judy's pre competition preparations is that she plaits her own horses hair.
