The King's Hospital will be one of 6 schools representing Ireland in Strasbourg in Euroscola 2016. The European Studies class together with 4 students from the video-editing class won a competition held by the European Parliament Offices in Ireland.

At Euroscola students aged 16 to 18 from across the EU become an MEP for a day at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.  They debate, negotiate, amend, vote and adopt resolutions on real European issues.

Twelve Irish groups take part each year by participating in competitions organised by the European Parliament’s Information Office in Ireland.  Competition winners (24 students and two teachers) receive a subsidy towards the cost of travelling to Strasbourg.  In order to take an active part students prepare in advance and come to Strasbourg already acquainted with the issues up for discussion.

The King's Hospital Competition entry was to make a video showing how we embrace diversity in the school with a focus on a 'Day in the Life' of our international students but also a look at what else we do in the school to encourage integration. Clips from Multicultural Week will feature in the final version as well as asking what we can do to improve integration in the school.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for these students and we are chuffed to bits!
